great writing and perspective, especially the "classic Knausgaard" paragraph: I hated him at first but kind of understand him now.

I was doing some "research" to write this:

Long story short, Knausgaard’s first shit in America is a “significant” one and clogs the toilet. He wraps his hand in a plastic bag and sticks it into the drain. No success. He tries again later. No success. The clog sorted itself out on its own.

The National Post reports: “He takes an inordinately long amount of time describing an attempt to fix a plugged St. Anthony toilet with his bare hands”.

If you remain absolutely faithful to the minutiae of your experience and the vagaries of your own nature, you can easily come off as a jerk.

Funnily enough, every opinionated dilettante nosedives into the shit like a kamikaze fly: “That’s the article’s most memorable scene.”
